Our Story
Battery Steele Brewery was founded in 2015, starting humbly in a South Portland barn with a dedication to brewing exceptional beer. Our journey began with Flume, our flagship Double IPA, and a commitment to refining each recipe until it met our standards for balance, flavor, and quality. That same dedication continues to guide everything we do today.
Now located on Industrial Way in Portland, Battery Steele has become a fixture in Maine’s craft beer scene. Our brewery and taproom are where it all happens—from recipe development to final pour. Every beer is brewed in-house using carefully selected ingredients and thoughtful processes designed to deliver consistent, world-class results. Whether it’s a hop-forward IPA, a crisp lager, or a seasonal release, each batch reflects our passion for the craft.
We’ve created a space that’s welcoming and unpretentious—where locals and visitors alike can enjoy fresh draft beer at the source. Whether you’re stopping in for a quick pint, meeting up with friends, or exploring our latest releases, our team is here to make sure every visit is a great one
Battery Steele represents hard work, precision, and a love of great beer. We’re proud to be part of Portland’s brewing community and to continue sharing what we do with those who appreciate the details.
