Our Story
Battery Steele Brewery’s operations humbly emerged from a South Portland barn in 2015. Our pursuit of perfection started by refining our signature Flume Double IPA before expanding to the many beers now loved by our loyal customers at both our original tap room on Industrial Way in Portland and our kitchen and bar in Wells.
Battery Steele Brewery and Tap Room on Industrial Way is where the magic begins. Our brewers meticulously select the highest quality ingredients to perfect a range of drafts that satisfy all palates. Our recipes and processes ensure innovative, world-class craft beer.
Battery Steele Kitchen+Bar sits a stone’s throw away from the beach in the charming coastal town of Wells, ME. This location showcases our exceptional beers, cocktails and elevated pub food. Our commitment to quality is enriched by our partnership with local farmers and artisans, sourcing the freshest ingredients for our thoughtfully crafted recipes. Our culinary team skillfully prepares a range of dishes, each designed to complement the flavors found in our diverse beer selection.

Our Team
Bram joined the Battery Steele team in May 2022. While this was the start of his professional brewing career, Bram has been homebrewing for over 12 years. Bram brings Battery-Steele 8+ years of experience from a Biotech production and quality control laboratory, which he joined after earning his bachelor’s degree in chemistry at Clark University. Bram’s passions outside of work include hiking with his wife and their Great Pyrenees-Retriever, beekeeping, astronomy, and baking loaves of sourdough.

Nestled in the picturesque landscape of Saco River Vally, this family-owned farm was founded in 1965 and spans an impressive 2,220 acres of fertile land . With a legacy spanning generations, they specialize in growing Maines best potatoes, corn, and beans while maintaining a strong commitment to the local community.
-COLD RIVER DISTILLERY-
All of our house cocktails feature spirits from Cold River Distillery, located on the outskirts of the quaint Freeport village. Distilled solely from potatoes grown at Green Thumb Farms, these incredible spirits embody Maines agricultural heritage while providing a clean and delicate foundation for our cocktail program.
-PINELAND FARMS-
Located on a stunning 5,000 acre multi-use campus in New Gloucester, Pineland provides us with premium, locally sourced meat and cheeses that reflect a true farm-to-table experience. The farm is a productive and educational venue that enriches the community by demonstrating responsible farming techniques, offering educational opportunities and encouraging a healthy lifestyle through recreation.

This 100 year old smokehouse resides in the lush countryside of Claremont, NH. As one of the America’s few remaining, family-owned smokehouses, North Country’s mission is to handcraft premium, artisanal smoked meats with relentless flavor focus, exceptional animal care standards, and respect for the land.
